New York, NY 10011

Are you still putting off making your art? Are you stuck in fear, anger, self-doubt and perfectionism? In this supportive yet thought-provoking workshop, psychotherapist Benjamin Seaman will facilitate you in identifying and overcoming the 101 ways you resist the work you were meant to create. Learn how negative feelings such as anger, fear and jealousy can actually be harnessed as energy and provide guidance about your artistic path. Drawing on numerous sources of insight and inspiration, Mr. Seaman provides a forum for closet creatives to come out of hiding, dissolve limiting beliefs and make an action plan for self-expression.

Benjamin G. Seaman, LCSW is a psychotherapist working in private practice in New York City, treating adults and couples from a variety of backgrounds.  Mr. Seaman regularly presents workshops on a wide range of personal growth topics, and is the co-hosts an annual spiritual retreat for known as "Touching the Hearts of Men" at Rowe Camp and Conference Center in Rowe, Massachusetts.

Mr. Seaman draws on training in family therapy, solution-focused treatment and relational psychoanalysis to help people integrate their personal, interpersonal and professional lives and overcome problems resulting from issues of anxiety, dependence on drugs or alcohol, compulsive behaviors, depression related to loss, trauma, or relationship difficulties.

Mr. Seaman brings a wide range of professional experience to his work. Combining the clinical rigor required of hospital-based settings with the personal and spiritual sensitivity drawn from advanced training in mental health treatment, Mr. Seaman creates a safe, yet dynamic environment for realizing personal growth.

In addition to over fifteen years of direct service in the helping profession, Mr. Seaman also draws on a wealth of personal and professional experience as a professional visual artist working both in the U.S. and Latin America. He is familiar with the cultural issues faced by various populations, from Spanish-speaking people struggling with integration into American culture, to young adults struggling to improve professionally and socially, to gay and lesbian clients facing issues of diversity, identity and integration.
